LiveLikeLou Center for ALS Research High School Awareness Course

Very excited to have participated in this inaugural course at Great Valley High School providing a scientific background on the pathobiology of neurodegenerative diseases with a focus on ALS. Students visiting Pittsburgh twice and even performed some experiments in the lab including, loading DNA gels and taking images of iPSC motor neurons on the confocal microscope. Last year, my 68-year-old partner was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease also known as ALS. Speaking and swallowing were two of his challenges.
